Before you start

Integration enabled for your company
An API credential in the dashboard (Authentication)
Rate limit: 120 req/min per credential (get_overview = 2 calls)

How to authenticate

LLM apps

OAuth

ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Copilot, Gemini — paste the MCP URL, then complete browser login and consent. No headers in the app.

Dev tools

API key headers

Cursor, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, VS Code — remote URL plus X-Api-Key and X-Api-Secret in config.

Connect LLM apps

ChatGPT

Open Settings → Apps & Connectors (or Developer mode).
Add a custom MCP server / connector.
Paste the Symios MCP URL.
Complete OAuth: dashboard login → pick credential → enter secret.
Verify: ask ChatGPT to list your Symios brands.

Claude.ai

Open Customize → Connectors.
Add a custom connector with the Symios MCP URL.
Complete OAuth (Claude handles the callback).
Verify with “List my Symios brands”.

Microsoft Copilot

In Copilot Studio or VS Code Copilot MCP settings, add a server.
Use the Symios MCP URL.
Prefer OAuth when offered; otherwise use API key headers.
Run a simple list_brands call.

Gemini

In Gemini / Workspace MCP connector settings, add a remote server.
Use the Symios MCP URL.
Complete OAuth when prompted.
Verify by asking Gemini to list Symios brands.

Connect dev tools

Create a credential in the dashboard and copy api_key + api_secret (secret is shown once).

Troubleshooting & security

Errors

401 — bad key/secret, disabled credential, or OAuth cancelled
Rate limited — wait; reduce parallel tools. See Errors
Query set not found — wrong id for the company
Consent expired — restart from the LLM app
Tool not found — reconnect to refresh the tool list

Security

Never paste API secrets into chat prompts
Rotate secrets in the dashboard if exposed
OAuth stores credentials encrypted server-side; apps get opaque tokens only
